Welcome!!
It is rather nice to have a space to finally post info about the infamous Dj Mccord and his crazy Bag o' Trance. Mccord started out Dj'ing in 2002 thanks to the advice of friends and family, and most importantly ambition. "I have always loved music, and have always been influenced by it." I used to hate dance music (yea I know, please harass me now). It wasn't until those crazy days selling music and working with Jules (big ups buddy) who always blasted the greatest in Jungle and Drum n' Bass. My exposure to something so different and yet so pleasing (compared to what I was use to hearing) and having to hear it all the time (as I was his boss), greatly grew on me. And definitely opened my eyes to the possibilities. Thanks to good friends like Anton and Jason who constantly kept the beats going at work, and outside of work, I grew to love everything about Dance/electronic music. But most importantly thanks to friends like Matt and Jeff who ultimately convinced me into purchasing my equipment, I can now say that I really enjoy Dj'ing. After hitting up several clubs and enjoying the experiences of being a punter, I can now say that I have several influences that help round out my style of Dj'ing. I have learned that a wonderfully thought out set can transition many different genres, and still sound good. I love trance music. No doubt about it. But many other Dj's have opened my eyes to the broad spectrum of dance music. Please see sidebar for Influences. The list can go on forever. The vibe I like to create, and the sets I like to lay down go from a funky/filtered house sound, into an airy and yet melodic Prog House, and end with uplifting Trance. I am still quite a "newbie" to the wonderful world of mixing. I haven't had the chance to play out too much other than at the occasional house party (which has fallen off the map recently). My most memorable experience so far would be when I played out at Open Deck Nights for Estuary. I greatly appreciate the opportunities those guys gave me, although I train wrecked every week. The thrill, the rush and the advice kept me going back each week. But that didn't stop me. Few months after that was shut down, I had the experience to play out in a local bar. They wanted to start a Dj night and I had the opportunity to be one of the first to play. I asked to do it, knowing that the bar primarily wasn't the crowd for dance music. I had a small turnout of friends (thanks Dong for calling up the Old folks from back in the day), but it ended up to be a really good night for me. I played a wonderful set of House and Prog. tunes that was very commercial, yet subdued enough for the bar. I can't forget the feeling when people walked up to me to tell me how good I was doing and how much they liked the tunes. I live for the music. I live for the excitement, the thrill and ultimately the rush. The rush of a good set, of a pleased crowd and most importantly the Rush of a Good night. I am excited to have a web space to finally be able to share my passion of music with the world. Friends, family, and unknown can now experience my love and passion of dance music through my goal of constantly recording and updating this page with current mixes. I hope you can feel my energy and my excitement throughout my mixes. Please take a look at the MIxes page for Updates. Thank you and Enjoy! |
